Yarn: The one made of 8 circles is made in Scheepjes Maxi , and the other one is made in Scheepjes Catona. You can find both at Favoritgarner with worldwide shipping.

Hook: 1,25 for Scheepjes Maxi, 3,0 for Scheepjes Catona

UK terms used:

Ss – slipstitch

Ch – chain

Dc – double crochet

Tr – treble crochet

Htr – half treble crochet

Dtr – double treble crochet

Ttr – triple treble crochet

dtr2tog – double treble 2 together

Tr3tog – treble crochet 3 together.

Dtr3tog – double treble 3 together

Picot – ch 3, ss in ch 1.

 

Size: 10 cm across in Scheepjes Maxi

16 cm across in Scheepjes Catona

 

Start with ch 8, join with a ss in ch 1.

Round 1:   Ch 3, 15 tr in the ring, join to initial ch 3 with a ss.

Round  2:  Ss in the space between your first and your second tr. Ch 6, *skip tr, dtr in next space between tr, ch 2, repeat * around, join to initial ch 4.

Round 3:   Ss in ch-2 space, ch 3, 4 tr in the same ch-2space, *dc in next ch-2 space, 5 tr in next ch-2 space, repeat* around, after your last dc, join to ch 3 with a ss.

Round 4:  Ss to the third of the five tr, ch 6 + tr in the third tr, ch 3 * dtr in next dc, ch 3, tr + ch 3 + tr in the third tr in next group of five tr, ch 3, repeat * around, but only dtr + ch 3 the last time, join to initial ch 3 with a ss.

Round 5:   Ss in ch-space, ch 3 + dtr2tog + ch 3 + ss in the same ch-space, *ch 3 + dtr3tog in the same ch-space, ch 3, skip next ch-space, tr + ch 2 + tr in dtr, ch 3, skip ch-space, dtr3tog + ch 3 + ss in next ch-space, repeat* around and after ch 3, join to dtr2tog with a ss.

Round 6:   ch 7, * tr in next dtr3tog, ch 2, tr in ch-3 space , ch 2 , tr in ch-2 space, ch 2, tr in next ch-3 space, ch 2, tr in dtr3tog, ch 4, repeat* around and after ch 2, join to initial ch 3 with a ss.

Round 7:  Ss in ch-4 space, ch 3 + * tr + picot + 2 tr in the same ch-space, 3 tr in next ch-2 space, ch 4, 3 tr in next ch-2 space, ch 4 , 3 tr in next ch-2 space, ch 4, 3 tr in next ch-2 space, tr in next ch-4 space, repeat* around, and after 3 tr in ch-2 space, join to initial ch 3 with a ss.

It is only on your first circle that you finish row 7 without any joinings.

 Joining big circles

The rest of your circles are joined in round 7, where you have three ch-4 spaces:

3 tr, ch 2, ss in first ch-4 space on second circle, ch 2, 3 tr in next ch-2 space on your first circle, ch 2, ss in second ch-4 space on second circle, ch 2, 3 tr in next ch-2 space on your first circle, ch 2, ss in third ch-4 space on second circle, ch 2, 3 tr in next ch-2 space on your first circle.

Small circle (See photo below)

The small circles are joined to four big circles on the last round.

Ch 8, join with a ss in ch 1.

Round 1:   Ch 3, 15 tr in the ring, join to initial ch 3 with a ss.

Round  2:  Ss in the space between your first and your second tr. Ch 5, *skip tr, tr in next space between tr, ch 2, repeat * around, join to initial ch 3.

Round 3:  Ss in next ch-space, * dc in ch-space, ch 3, dc in first ch-4 space on your big circle, ch 3, dc in the same ch-space on your small circle, dc in next ch-space, ch 2, dc in second ch-4 space on your big circle, ch 2, dc in the same ch-space on your small circle, dc in next ch-space, ch 3, dc in third ch-4 space on your big circle, ch 3, dc in the same ch-space on your small circle, 2 dc in next ch-space, repeat * around, and after 2 dc in ch-space, join with a ss in initial dc.

Edging

Round 1:   Start in a corner circle, dc in ch-4 space, *ch 5 lm, dc in next ch-space, ch 5, dc in next ch-space, ch 5, dc in picot, ch 5, dc in next ch-space, repeat* around, but between two circles you make dc in ch-space, ch 5 , dtr in picot, but pull through only once, ttr in the space between the two circles (see photo), but pull through only twice, dtr in picot on next circle and pull through all loops on hook, ch 3, 2 dtr in in same stitch (in the ttr) ch 3, ss in the same stitch, ch 5 (see photo) repeat around.

Round 2:   4 dc in every ch-space, dc in every dc, in the space betweeen two circles, 4 dc in ch-space ,ch 2, ss in the top of the “leaf”, ch 2, 4dc in next ch-space.  Fasten off. See photo.
